Captain Jack (aka Mark Hicks) started Captain Jack's Santa Barbara Tours to seek, find, and develop the most spectacular outdoor tours on the central coast. These tours are designed to provide a world class experience. These tours provide the perfect combination of physical activities enjoyed at a pace that allows guests to pause, breathe, and take in the beauty of the area. These tours are all inclusive; everything is provided. Guests can enjoy the day knowing Captain Jack and his guides have previewed and experienced the tour, to insure a safe, unique, experience which will arouse the senses, sending you home with a renewed and enhanced view of the world.
Donna Blackie has enjoyed the great outdoors her entire life. She loves to share her "love of nature" with all our guests. This love of nature, combined with Donna's medical background (certified nursing assistant) makes her a perfect fit to guide Captain Jack's guest's through the Gaviota Coast. Donna was a member of the "Montecito Trails Foundation", and now can't believe she get's paid to have all this fun!
Christopher Villavicencio is a local to Santa Barbara who enjoys the various activities our area has to offer. I have been instilled with a thirst for adventure from a very young age. This love for adventure and travel has taken me across the globe--I have backpacked across Europe, trekked in the rolling countryside hills and mountains of the Ethiopian Highlands, and have also hiked and camped in various National Parks such as Yosemite, Zion, Yellowstone, Bryce, etc. I currently enjoy hiking, rock climbing and bouldering in the Santa Ynez mountain range that surrounds Santa Barbara County. Working for Captain Jack's, I get to share in guest's adventures in our area.
Brett is a southern California native and graduate of UC Santa Barbara. Brett lives for the outdoors, whether it is biking around town or being out on the ocean. He is also an expert on all the other things there are to do in Santa Barbara when your tour is over. Be sure to get his opinion on restauraunts and clubs. With all there is to do in SB, is it any wonder he left the world of finance to share these things with others?
Guy "Hello ladies and gents, my name is Guy and I'll be your tour guide! I have been playing sports my whole life, played basketball for as long as I can remember, then varsity water polo and best but certainly not least lacrosse in college. Being certified in CPR and basic first aid, as well as the other guides, your life is in great hands =). I am a Santa Barbara local and have been out in the water and up in the mountains for years. My experience out there is always just as fantastic as yours will be; I really enjoy every tour and believe every tour is different in some way. Can't wait to let everyone know what Santa Barbara is all about."
Jeff is a California native and graduate from the University of California, San Diego.  He has relocated up to wine country in the Santa Ynez Valley to help out with his family's vineyard and wine production.  He is always eager to share the scenic views and excellent wines of the region with visitors.  In his off time, he can often be found taking advantage of the areas excellent surfing, biking, and hiking.
Dominic is from the island of Kauai and moved to Santa Barbara for school. He has been living here for 6 years and attends UC Santa Barbara. Dominic spends all of his free time at the beach surfing or playing beach volleyball. He is very familiar with the town of Santa Barbara and has made it his home away from home. He always says, "It's the next best place to Hawaii," but this next best place has kept him here for over half a decade and he doesn't show any intentions of leaving.
Danielle is also from the beautiful island of Kauai. She has been living in Santa Barbara and loves it. She loves the ocean, and is an avid canoe paddler. She also enjoys mountain biking, surfing, and hiking. She is currently attending SBCC and majoring in Kinesiology. She is CPR and first aid certified so you know you will be safe while kayaking.
Andrew is a local Santa Barbarian and feels lucky to have grown up here. "I love the history, architecture and natural beauty of Santa Barbara. It is truly a unique place in the world. Where else can you go hiking in the mountains with amazing views, and then later in the day be hanging out on the beach, or kayaking with dolphins and whales." Andrew is also an avid musician and plays too many instruments to count. Don't ask him about this, he'll never stop talking!
Cuauhtemoc Landeros is an authentic Aztec Indian and shares the same name as the last Aztec Emperor Prince. Cuauhtemoc is just as much at home in a kayak as he is hiking the Gaviota Trail. His vast knowledge of nature is apparent as he tells guests what plants they can eat, what it will taste like, and which plants to avoid. You'll want to keep an eye on Cuauhtemoc for at any moment he might "disappear" as he shimmies up the nearest tree.
Marcel Richter My passion for the outdoors, for the ocean, as well as for the beautiful landscape surrounding us, is reflected in the work for Captain Jack. It is such a great idea to share the moments on the Pacific in the kayaks, or in the Santa Ynez Mountains while hiking, with our motivated and nature-loving customers. While I enjoy surfing so much on the Central Coast , kayaking is a perfect chance to see the dolphins and sea lions closer and even follow them or watch them play with us. I invite you to come and experience an unforgettable day with us. We respect nature and try to do everything to protect it on tours. This goes hand in hand with my university studies of Innovation Research and Sustainable Resource Management.
Nancy Richter I love to be in the nature and doing outdoor sports like mountain biking, hiking and kayaking. Especially kayaking on the ocean is something special I enjoy very much, because you are so close to that element and if you are lucky you see some dolphins and sea lions. My love for nature, for landscapes, wildlife and, of course, the love for my family and my friends inspires me to take pictures whenever it is possible. Santa Barbara is really a great place to choose if you are interested in outdoors sports, as well as in delicious food and vine. So come to this lovely place. And if you want to enjoy a tour with us you will explore yourself how beautiful nature and its wildlife can be.

Captain Jack's Santa Barbara Tours provide our guests with a rainbow of experiences. Captain Jack's most popular tour THE GAVIOTA COAST KAYAK & HIKE TOUR" is the perfect example of this. Lunch at a secluded resort surrounded by sycamore and California Oak trees including the sound of a nearby stream. The final leg of your tour ends with the most breathtaking hour and a half of hiking on the central coast. Everything about your day will enlighten, enhance, and excite the soul. Nothing about this tour needs to be highlighted. God has already done that. Captain Jack guarantees it.
